DDA Scarecrow Contest - Eventeny


Entry Fee:

This event is FREE to all community members! Registration is required to be able to place a scarecrow downtown.

Categories: 

Participants have the ability to win cash prizes in each of the following categories, winners will be determined by votes from the public. Voting information will be distributed October 4th: 

  • People's Choice (Top Vote Getter)
  • Most Creative
  • Funniest
  • Most Elaborate Decorations
  • Most Likely to Scare Crows (So bad, it's good!)

There will also be a sixth category determined by the board:

  • Grand Champion (Best of the Best)


Contest Rules:

  • Scarecrows can be made of any materials you choose, but will be exposed to the elements (rain, wind, etc).
  • Displays cannot damage the pole, sidewalk, or surrounding space in any way.
  • Scarecrows may not include adult, political, violent, socially insensitive, or excessively gory themes. Any display the Committee finds to be inappropriate must be fittingly altered or taken down immediately.
  • The DDA Promotions Committee will make be the final decision-maker in any questions regarding the rules of this contest.
  • Each display can extend out five feet on either side of the pole parallel to the curb, and up to three feet out from the pole on the sidewalk. Displays must not block good passage of pedestrian traffic.


Location(s):

Locations for the entries are staged around downtown. Priority will be given to businesses to place their entry in front of their establishment if registered by September 13th.


Disclosure: Participants of the contest are solely responsible for setting up, removal of display, and any items to complete their display. The Dallas Downtown Association is not responsible for loss or damage of any displays. Entry in the Dallas Downtown Association Scarecrow Contest constitutes an agreement with the terms specified above.
